New England 2

May 2022
Good to see Mom again - Lily got comfortable on her...

I was “smart” enough to save my tooth filling and they were able to re-cement it to the molar - YAY! No drilling, no Novocaine, less time in the chair - who could ask for anything more?

Leanna and Lily play soccer on Saturdays - at least it is the same day. Lily played defense in Lee. Then we traveled to N. Adams. Couldn’t believe that Leanna's team (13-year old girls) had to play boys (13-year old boys with one girl on the team who never played). They lost (6 to 2) and the first thing she said after the game was, “I had to touch stinky boys who don’t wash their hands!”

Went to my orthopedic surgeon to get his opinion on my right hip. I have had 2 cortisone shots already in the past 2 years, but they were for Bursitis. I also have osteoarthritis which is a biting pinch inside the hip if I move a certain way. After x-rays and good discussion he stated that the X-rays don’t determine surgery, we do. He said that if I am still able to do the things I do - line dance, walking, getting in and out of the VW bug and the RV - we could wait on the hip replacement. Since the bursitis shot worked for so many months the last time, he offered to give me one now. Relieved that I didn’t have to have surgery, I agreed.

I had already told Tanglewood that I would not be able to work this summer due to probable surgery and immediately let them know that I would NOT have surgery. Thankfully, I am on the schedule for the summer with my requested times off for preplanned trips and appointments. They are great employers...

It is Lily’s 11th birthday and she is a pistol. I sketched her card months ago under the pretense that she wants to do “point” in ballet - only to find out that she is taking a break from ballet for now. She loved the card and I hope it inspires her to get back on track...

Went to Belchertown to help minimize Leslie’s plentiful supply of yarn in her shed for a new pattern I am starting. Can’t wait to get going on it.

It was Mom’s first time seeing their new mobile home, followed by a delicious lunch at Antonio’s Restaurant.

Opened the pool on May 20 and started power washing the concrete around it! Who was the first in this year? Zachary Michael Clark! The prize for kids is $10, adults a case of beer. The Clarks and Keenans came for a refreshing swim on an extremely hot, muggy day. FUN...
See the video in the email…

Cousins Jacob and Leanna had their first dance (7th grade)! Jacob said the boys were wearing all black and I have no pictures - they just hung around. Leanna looked terrific in her first dance dress - love the sneakers that set it off...

Cindy, Jimmy, Leslie, Rich and I convened at Mom’s to do the annual To Do List for her Mother’s Day gift. Power washing, mulching, A/C installing, setting up swing, and of course, eating!

Stopped at Amy’s house and met Maisy for the first time.

We went to New York to visit Rich’s sister, Eileen, and Steve, and had a wonderful visit, with Steve’s chili for lunch - delicious. Eileen is making a stunning quilt for her grandson’s graduation. It is like doing a jigsaw puzzle so Steve joined forces with her to map it out.

They are thrilled to be dog sitting for their son’s dog, Lulu. She is a real beauty and very well behaved.

Zachary, 4th grade, was in a school concert last night playing his saxophone. A trip to Lucky’s Ice Cream afterward was well deserved.

Z and dad…

Lily, 5th grade, had her concert where she plays the clarinet. I had already made plans for that night, unfortunately, but she tells me she did not “squeak”...

Celebrated Debbie’s 75th birthday at Greenock CC. So good to see friends again..:

We set up at the Lee Farmer’s Market for the 1st time this year! Finally Rich can show/sell the pieces he worked on all winter.  It was quite the success - we will be doing it as many Saturdays as we can from now to Labor Day.

Richartcreations.com to see all of his work!

Memorial Day family picnic at my my house - a very nice day for that!

Woke up to a warm fridge with a well stocked freezer! Ran to get ice and cooler, then started the mission of finding a new one, delivered today, with the correct dimensions, reasonable price, and color (HA! All of my appliances are off-white from 2000!) So I am also having to decide on the color for all appliances which I’m sure will be crapping out soon! The best reason for shopping local = for a mere $2000 I got a LOANER DELIVERED TODAY, disposal of old fridge, a bottom freezer with French fridge doors in brushed stainless steel (didn’t want black) to be delivered when it comes in. Thank you Henry’s Electric!

Finished this lap blanket with yellow from Leslie - would love to send it to the Ukraine…

New England 2

April 29, 2022, Friday
The landscape is not as green the farther north we go - no buds on the trees. Gas prices still climbing; they pump for you in NJ (state law). Winds are very high. Speed limit is now 65 mph not 80. We laid up in Pennsylvania for the night.

Book Review: Yellow Wife, by Sadeqa Johnson, Narrated by Robin Miles

If you think you know what the life of slaves was like, learn more than you care to know with this magnificent author and compelling reader/performer. It isn’t “easy” to read/listen because it is so disturbing, but I couldn’t stop. Five star rating for Overall, Performance, and Story!

April 30, 2022, Saturday
Hung out with Nora watching “Somebody Feed Phil” which gives you a tour of the world and the delectable ethnic foods that they enjoy. Then we went out for ice cream - yum...

May 1, 2022, Sunday
We had brunch with the whole family - Perry made some beautiful music on Rich’s guitars; Nora cooked another great meal.

We headed out at noon to go to Lee, the final destination for now. The girls (Leanna and Lily) and Kristie had created a Welcome Home Sign and a plant for when we walked in the door. ❤️

The total miles traveled in the camper - 6, 612 miles from Lee to Oceanview, CA and lots of stops in between, and back to Lee. Follow the heavy black line…

We started pulling everything out of the camper and into the house - a LOT of stuff - making note of what we didn’t need to bring and what we should have brought.
Then went to the Locker Room for dinner and then went home and crashed!

May 2,  2022, Monday
I got a much needed pedicure. Sooooo good to see the kids again!💕  Zachary came over after school to stay until we gave Jacob a ride home from the Athletic Field. Rich grilled up some chicken thighs and cauliflower for us. Randy brought Leanna and Lily down for a visit and we played instruments again.

May 3, 2022, Tuesday
Got a haircut, vacuumed the car, set up the deck furniture out back.

May 4, 2022,  Wednesday
Had a surprise visit from Nora, Eric, and Kieran on their way to Boston, Gloucester, and Maine. They took a spontaneous trip during Eric’s vacation.

It was a rainy day so we decided to binge watch 4 episodes of “1883” - it is a great series with awesome actors.  We are loving it, especially with our passion for the Wild West...

May 5, 2022, Thursday
On the road to open the camp in Maine with my sisters and brothers-in-law - a 4 hour drive well worth it for the company, quality time and terrific food.

Delicious dinner a la Cindy…

We weren't sure if Nora and the gang would make their way up the coast to Raymond, but they did. It was great to have them meet my sisters and brothers-in-law!

We will return home on Sunday and that is it for traveling for a while. So I will be taking a break from the Blog until we do another adventure. If you want to UNSUBSCRIBE from this blog, reply to me on email. No worries.
