NEW ENGLAND 7

June 2026 -

Jacob got his first car - a 2015 Ford Fusion. Dark gray with tan interior - excellent condition. He has souped it up with black rims and new grill too. I think I’ll call him Darth Vader!

Went to dinner with Joyce at the Salmon Run. Who was in there getting an order to go? Shannon and Zach. Small town stuff…

Farmers Market is slow so far this year with the cold, windy, rainy weather one week to hot, simmering the next week. Rain started at 1pm so we broke down early to protect the art. Ugh!

Pride Week in Lee occurred during the next Farmers Market bringing many more vendors and a lot of traffic through the park. There were games

Berkshire Music Theatre student performances

and an array of colorful costumes

Daughter-in-law Kristie set up her booth of beautiful Blu-belle pottery.

Went to The Tavern (a former post office) with my friends from Big Y. Tony picked me up in Lee and we went over the mountain and through the woods to Westfield for a wonderful meal and conversation. On the way back to Lee, we were slowed down by a terrible accident. The ambulance pulled off as we approached the scene. The local paper says that one driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries - I don’t know how they survived having seen the cab crunched in and motor parts all over the road. There were cases and cases of bottled water surrounding the container. Down the road a little bit was another tractor trailer with it’s rear pushed in.

Graduation - Youngest grandson, Zachary “bridged over” into 9th grade in a class of 66 students - I now have 4 grandkids in high school! Where did the time go?

Leanna announced the inductees into the National Honor Society. She was inducted last year.

RIP ðŸ’”- Sister Leslie’s husband, Johan, passed away after struggling with diabetes and COPD.

He served in Viet Nam so there was a military send off which always stirs me deep inside - 3 gun salute, soulful bugling of taps, marching in step, crisp hand salutes, solemn folding/presentation of the flag and bullet casings, et al. Dear friend of the family, Drew, delivered heartfelt remarks to give him a proper send off. My father and 2 brother-in-laws have now been laid to rest in this National Cemetery.

Afterwards, we went to the Student Prince Restaurant where Leslie and Johan first met in their youth. He was a sous chef and she a waitress. He charmed her into his life and they had their wedding reception there as well. They went on to open their own restaurant, Johan’s. Daughter, princess Sarah, shared her memories of her father which had us laughing and crying. Grandson, Sierd (who just turned 6), took the mic and like a brave little man said, “I wish he was still alive!” Many friends and family members spoke of their   fond experiences with Johan, which all recalled what a wonderful chef he was. I can certainly attest to that…

Farmers Market again - good traffic as it was opening day for Tanglewood, Father’s Day, and Juneteenth weekend, but our sales were so-so. We charge $5/card (incl. envelope) which I’m told is cheaper than in the stores. People hesitate to spend $5 on a card, but will buy a BrewBerry Food Truck Acai berry bowl for $15!

Also, the flowers across from our site are $10-$35/plant and they sell like crazy.

Trying to think outside the box to give more incentive for what we are selling.

Ukulele sessions twice a week keep us strumming…

Took the back roads to Whitehall through Amish country.

Adirondack chairs

Freshly planted corn fields

Went to Perry’s in S. Glens Falls to celebrate Father’s Day!

Here are 3 generations of Colomb Dads…❤️

And the newest baby, Isabella Rose, now 1-year-old❤️

Perry marinated 1/2 the chicken in jerk sauce and 1/2 in teriyaki before grilling - DELICIOUS. Kegan made a yummy chicken buffalo dip and Tracy made a savory pasta salad. Nora B. finished it off with perfect homemade chocolate chip cookies.

The skies opened up just as the food was served! No worries - everyone managed to eat…
