NEW ENGLAND 7

OCTOBER 2026

Impromptu visit with a good friend from North Ranch/Congress, AZ! We got a text from Cowgirl Dee - she’s in New England! She and Danny (her new boyfriend) drove out to New York to see his son and family. Turns out, we are only a couple of hours from them so we decided to meet half way in Hudson, NY for lunch. So we set a date and time, hopped in the Sportage, put the sunroof back and took the scenic root. It was a gorgeous Fall day.

When we pulled into town, we drove past the Governor’s Tavern to look for parking. The road we were on had a railroad track right up our lane like a trolley track.

I had never been to Hudson, so did not know that the parking was supposed to be paid for in a kiosk. We were there for 2 hours and the car was still there when we got back, but I’m sure they’ll catch up with us. We walked to the Tavern and stepped inside to see Dee and Danny already there. We hugged it out and found a place to sit. The door was still open and all of a sudden the train went flying by, whistle blaring as a warning. I can’t imagine how cars and pedestrians on the road knew to get out of the way in time.

Final Farmers Market 2026 - It was a beautiful Fall day for the final market. Travelers from all over New England were in the area to view the pallet of colorful leaves.

Emma’s Baby Shower was lovely and the weather was picture perfect Fall day in all its splendor. The theme was woodland baby animals.

Tracy, Emma’s mom, and friends set up 4 crockpots keeping broccoli and cheese, corn chowder, and taco soup warm and hot cider in another one. A fruit selection of enormous blueberries, strawberries, black berries, and pineapple was delicious. Nora made her signature artichoke dip with Italian meats and baguettes on the side and little Nora made a yummy apple crisp. Cassidy made a super moist pumpkin cake with cream cheese.

They loved Rich’s composite of critters in the woodland landscape and my crocheted blanket using the same colors.

Lee High Soccer undefeated in their league. A traditional fire truck parade through downtown Lee was held after the last game.

Had lunch with 4 of my high school friends at RJ’s Italian Restaurant. We had a great time together and vowed that someone was going to remember to take a picture - no one did!

Lee High Home Coming (HOCO) Dance - all four grandchildren went to the Lee dance with the exception of Jacob, who went to Waconah High with his girlfriend Gracey.

Morgan House was the meeting spot for my farewell family gathering! Thankfully we found a date that worked for everyone. It is harder now with high school sports games and practices, jobs, dances, etc.

  • Me with the grandkids…

Kristie made delicious brownie pudding a la mode to have back at my house. We did our Fall measurements against the cellar door where I pencil in their height with date,,,

Packing little by little over this month while managing to say goodbye to friends and family. My friend, Brooke, needed a ride to get a haircut - it came out cute!

Final 2026 Walk with fellow walkers, Kathy and Dee. We have walked 2 miles most every weekday since our return in May. I am the eldest and hold them back more than they deserve, I will miss these longtime friends over the winter.
