Apricity West 5

March 14, 2025 - Friday
Weighed in and we both lost! Walked in the park and ate very little during the day as we went to T&J's for turkey burgers and home baked fries, followed by a small chocolate mint cookie sundae...

March 15, 2025 - Saturday
After my walk, we went to meet up with the Parsons for a wonderful food experience - Dim Sum (touch of the heart). Rich was our guide extraordinaire as it was all of our maiden voyage.

Basically it is like a sampler/PuPu of Chinese foods served in individual dishes. They are called appetizers, but you make a meal of it by ordering a variety of dishes - and of course your choice of tea flavors hot or cold.

Then we went downtown to see the tallest in the state in process mural of a saguaro. It so happens that there is a little walk up window for pasta and/or sorbet in an alley nearby. The joys of Arizona weather allowing outdoor dining!

Small mural in alley

Off to a new brewery, Borderlands #3, which has all walls and tables covered with graffiti by a single artist. We had one drink and then went back to T&J’s to play music.

March 16, 2025 - Sunday
After attending online church, I walked. Terri and Jim came over our way to have a mid-morning breakfast down the street at TTT Truck Stop. Then they sat with us on our patio for a while until we had to prepare for the TUKU final practice. Rich has improved so much on the harmonica solos - Danny Boy, Irish Eyes, and San Francisco Bay. I will try to get a video clip of it on Wednesday.

March 17, 2025 - Monday HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY
It warmed up a lot last night and I should have walked earlier this morning than I did. Extended my route by walking to the Dollar Store (less than 3/4/ mile round trip) to get a green shirt for the occasion - today and the performance on Wednesday. We were sitting out front and a man stopped to ask if we were really from NY (license plates). He is from Rochester and asked if we had been to "the Sag.” He used to go to the Sagamore Hotel on Lake George frequently. And Rich used to sous chef there - not in the same time line, but…  He and his wife retired 4 years ago, sold their home, bought an 31-foot motorhome and a Jeep toad and have been full-timing ever since. They are thinking about summering back East, but love it here.

Off to Terri and Jim’s to play music, drink cocktails, and cook (Rich) a corned beef dinner.

They provided dessert - Beyond Bread has a separate entrance to their shop called Back Dough. These mini-pies were a perfect ending to the meal.

March 18, 2025 - Tuesday
Taking it easy today - lounged all morning. Pat and I went for our 2-mile walk at 1pm in the crisp, cool, windy air...

March 19, 2025 - Wednesday
Walked as usual. Today was the big day - 21 members of the TUKU group performed at Atria Bell Court Senior Living. The audience loved us as they sang and danced for many of the 20 songs we did. Rich did really well and they applauded for him after his intro - see the body of this email to hear it. Hard to believe he just started taking this hobby seriously a few months ago.

This was our last time playing with them as we leave in 11 days. It really was a great group and we both learned so much. I sure hope there are organized players back in Berkshire County whether they are ukuleles or other instruments. We will be going through withdrawal until then.

March 20, 2025 - Thursday
Another gorgeous sunny day in the desert. Walked 2 miles with Pat and went over to Terri and Jim’s for a visit and pizza from Transplant.
